Varney returns to Owls in loan deal

The 27-year-old has had two previous loan spells at Hillsborough and spent the first half of the current campaign with the Owls. He has scored a total of six goals in 18 starts.[LNB]Manager Alan Irvine said: "Luke Varney is a player I have admired very much since he started his league career at Crewe.[LNB]"He has a tremendous work ethic and the right attributes I seek in a player. Luke has already proved himself a very popular player during his two loan spells so far with Sheffield Wednesday and I'm delighted to welcome him back for the rest of the season."[LNB]Varney has scored a total of 44 goals in 134 league starts throughout his career after starting at non-league Quorn FC before joining Crewe in 2003. He later earned a £2million move to Charlton before being transferred to Pride Park in November 2008, initially on loan.[LNB]The loan agreement prevents the forward from playing against his parent club at Hillsborough on Saturday March 20.[LNB][LNB]
