Steve Davies has been placed on the transfer list after refusing a new contract for 'Family Reasons'

Steve Davies is to leave Derby County for “Family reasons”, that is the shock news from Derby County today.

The Rams leading scorer has turned down a renewal to his contract and manager, Nigel Clough has said that he agrees with the reasons or Davies wanting to move from the club, But it is unclear what the particular family reason is and a mystery why Davies has to move to another club for the family reason.

Davies has scored 12 goals in just 27 games this season, a good return after spending three months out of action due to a life threatening head injury which occurred during a game in October 2011 at Pride Park. The injury required 10 plates and 22 screws to be inserted into the forehead of Davies.

The Rams are now being forced to up their search for a further striker after the bombshell from Davies. Clough had wanted to add a further striker to his squad during the summer but had also wanted to keep Davies. The club hope to get a fee for Davies which will help in their search for a replacement. Figures of £1m have been linked to Championship rivals Ipswich Town and other clubs thought to be keen on taking Davies...
