The 34-year-old is set to play a major role for County next term after being a peripheral figure for much of last season and cannot wait for the action to begin.
He told the club's official website: "Everybody is working extremely hard and we have some exceptionally fit players in the squad this time. We'll be in great shape when the Championship season kicks off.
"It's my 18th pre-season as a professional and of course it gets tougher the older you get, but that just means you have to work even harder, and I have never been afraid of hard work.
"The spirit in the camp is amazing."
