The veteran midfielder picked up his fifth booking of the season in Saturday's npower Championship defeat against Reading and will serve a one-match ban.
Rams boss Nigel Clough could also be without central defender Dean Leacock and midfielder Stephen Pearson, who were withdrawn at half-time against the Royals due to injury.
"Both changes were enforced," said Clough.
"Dean Leacock has a groin problem and Stephen Pearson is struggling on the hard grounds with his knee.
"We will see how they are. We are getting a bit low on numbers again."
