Rams plot major summer cull

The Rams are £23million in debt but insisted at a fans forum at Pride Park on Monday night that they remain on course to reduce that figure to £15million by the end of August. Trimming their excessive squad, including loan signings, is seen as the most obvious way to achieve that goal. Asked if the club can reduce the size of its squad and wage bill and still challenge for promotion, Pearson replied: "A classic example is Burnley. Everton, in the Premier League, have a smallish squad but are doing very well. "We have tried the big-squad route. Wage-wise, it will not be as generous as it was this season. "We have worked a figure out (wage budget and transfer budget) we are happy with and it is one this club can afford."
