Clubs approved the proposal - led by Rams chairman Adam Pearson - at the Football League's annual meeting this week and the Rams now feel the rule change will allow them to fully utilise their young squad. A Derby spokesman said: "We thought it was an idea that deserved further discussions, so we agreed to take it on. "As a club with a lot of up-and-coming young players, this new rule might give some of them the chance to gain some first-team experience." The increase was initially put forward by Birmingham, but following their promotion they are no longer members of the Football League and as Rams chairman Pearson backed the move, he agreed to table the proposal instead.
