Rams boss hails Hulse heroics

The former Sheffield United player, who turned down a move to Middlesbrough last month, demonstrated his commitment to the cause by making himself available to face the Tykes despite being laid low in the build-up to the game. Hulse scored the opening goal and lasted 68 minutes before being replaced by Paul Dickov in a 3-2 defeat at Pride Park. Clough told the club's official website: "Rob has been horrendously ill since the weekend but he was determined to help the team and so made himself available. "It's a credit to him and his attitude he lasted beyond the hour mark because he really had to dig deep to find that energy." He added: "This type of determination and strength of personality is what we need here. It is an example to everyone else at the club. Hopefully Rob is over the worst of it now and he should be close to full fitness for our match at Crystal Palace on Saturday."
