Porter hoping for Christmas cheer

Porter has been sidelined with a hip problem and underwent surgery last month after picking up the injury at the end of last season. The 25-year-old has been limited to five appearances for the Rams since his arrival in January but the striker is determined not to become the club's forgotten man. "I am hoping, if possible, to be back a little earlier than late December," he told the Derby Telegraph. "I am not writing my season off by any means. I don't want to be the forgotten man." The former Motherwell player - who hit three goals in three starts last term - is now focussed on his rehabilitation and wants a return to his early form, adding: "I just want to get back to how I was playing in my first few games."
