No rush back for Barker

Derby defender Shaun Barker will be eased back into pre-season training following his knee operation. The 27-year-old underwent surgery at the end of last season and is not yet ready to join in with the rest of squad as the players prepare for the forthcoming Championship campaign. It is likely to be another week before Barker is ready to step up his fitness work. "There is no point rushing Shaun back at this stage knowing the injuries we had last season. It will be a case of easing him back," said Rams coach Gary Crosby. "The surgeon wanted him to have one more week's rest and gym work before he joins in so he will only be one week behind the others, which you can accommodate at the beginning of pre-season. "Shaun is doing a lot of work in the gym. You cannot beat the running but he will have plenty of time to get his fitness up."
