Leacock pencilled in for Lions return

Derby defender Dean Leacock could return from injury later this month. The centre-half sustained a hamstring strain during the home win over Crystal Palace towards the end of September. The Rams resume their Championship campaign against Preston at Pride Park on October 16 following the international break. Boss Nigel Clough feels that game could come too soon for Leacock but the 26-year-old may come into the reckoning for the trip to Millwall a week later if he can prove his fitness in a reserve-team game. "Preston looks a little bit too early for Dean because of the nature of his injury," Clough told the club`s official website. "We hope he can feature in the reserve game against Rotherham just after Preston and then be available for selection after that."
