Joy for Roy as Wright sinks Rams

Roy Keane's side went into the game with the unwanted stigma of being the only club in the Football League yet to win, but at the 15th time of asking that monkey is now off their back.[LNB]The goal came after 66 minutes from Liam Rosenior's cross on the right-hand side. Left-back Wright had gambled at the far post and was rewarded with a free header that he powered past Stephen Bywater.[LNB]Ipswich have had a knack of conceding late goals this season and another tense finale could have been avoided had Alex Bruce converted any of the three headed chances he had, or if substitute Tamas Priskin had not seen his shot saved by Bywater when one-on-one with the Derby keeper late on.[LNB]However, the result was not enough to lift Keane's side off the bottom of the table, while Derby's dismal away form now means they are without a win on their travels in 15 matches.[LNB]Derby had a good early chance when Gary Teale's right-wing cross evaded everyone inside the the area and reached Paul Dickov at the far post, but the diminutive striker missed the target from six yards.[LNB]At the other end, Jonathan Stead curled a shot just wide from the edge of the box after 10 minutes.[LNB]A lull ensued and neither side created any chance of note until Jonathan Walters headed over the crossbar from Stead's cross just after the half-hour mark.[LNB]It was the first of three headed chances Ipswich created before the break. Damien Delaney had an effort that went straight at Bywater, before the Derby keeper comfortably saved another attempt from Bruce.[LNB]Ipswich continued to create chances from crosses into the box and Bruce saw another header blocked five minutes after the restart.[LNB]Despite the host's dominance, it was Asmir Begovic who was called upon to make the first save of any real significance when Teale struck a rising shot after 57 minutes. The Bosnian athletically tipped the ball over the crossbar.[LNB]A minute later Begovic was forced to push another shot, this time from Bryan Hughes, over his goal.[LNB]Ipswich were suddenly getting over-run and Keane responded by making a double substitution. Pablo Counago and Priskin were introduced with Liam Trotter and Stead the players to make way.[LNB]The impact was immediate. Ipswich kept the ball better in midfield and they soon went ahead through Wright's header.[LNB]Priskin then curled a shot from 25 yards just wide.[LNB]But Ipswich did not have it all their own way after taking the lead, and Begovic was called upon to tip Hughes' shot round a post midway through the second half.[LNB]Bruce spurned an opportunity to seal the victory when he again missed the target with a close-range header in the 74th minute.[LNB]At the other end, Dickov shot over the crossbar from eight yards out.[LNB]Priskin had a glorious opportunity to seal the win with two minutes remaining when he raced clear of the Derby defence, but the Hungarian striker was thwarted by Bywater.[LNB][LNB][LNB]
