Fotheringham handed Derby run-out
The 25-year-old defender is a free agent after leaving Carrow Road at the end of last season and following a trial at Spanish club Espanyol, the Rams are now offering him a chance to impress.
Fotheringham will be among a number of trialists joining Derby for pre-season training and he is expected to take part in the friendly with Clough's former club Burton on Saturday.
"One or two will be coming in this week, Mark being one of them," confirmed Clough.
"We are looking to have a practice match on Thursday in-house and he will be involved at Burton. Taking a look at players is all part of pre-season."
