Derby County have been quoted as being interested in taking free agent Joey Barton to stiffen up the midfield for Derby County. The 34 year-old Barton has been released recently from his contract with Glasgow Rangers by mutual consent.
Whilst Barton has a record of being in promoted squads in recent years, QPR and Burnley. His temprament has to be a worry, being the bad boy of British football is an understatement for Barton. His on and off field antics have been well documented ranging from showing his backside to Everton fans to physical attacks on players and managers.
Would you want this type of player at Derby County? His 240 Premiership appearances does give him experience that could be invaluable in any promotion push but history suggests he is a loaded cannon that could explode at any time.
