Rams robbed of Roberts

Gareth Roberts will miss Derby's home game against Wolves through suspension.

The experienced left-back begins a three-match ban after he was sent off late on in the 2-1 defeat at Hull on Tuesday night.

It is a problem Rams boss Nigel Clough could do without, given fellow defenders Mark O'Brien, James O'Connor and captain Shaun Barker are already absent due to knee injuries.

Centre-half Jake Buxton will be assessed ahead of the weekend after recently overcoming a medial knee ligament injury.

With O'Brien and O'Connor sidelined, Clough may continue with right-back John Brayford as a central defender, leaving Kieron Freeman, Valentin Gjokaj and Michael Hoganson all pushing for places in the back four.

Teenage striker Mason Bennett will be available for selection after returning from international duty in the Algarve with England Under-17s.

Kaspars Gorkss will be hoping to make his Wolves debut when Dean Saunders' struggling side make the trip.

The 31-year-old Latvia international defender arrived on a three-month loan deal from Reading this week to help shore up Wanderers' leaky defence.

Gorkss' arrival comes as Roger Johnson serves the final game of his three-match suspension for his red card against Blackpool.

Centre-back Danny Batth again slotted in alongside Christophe Berra in last weekend's 2-2 draw against Leeds and capped an impressive display with an injury-time equaliser, presenting boss Saunders with somewhat of a selection dilemma as he chases his first victory in charge at the sixth attempt.

Goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey and defender George Elokobi remain long-term absentees.
