Craig Bryson doubtful for Sheffield Wednesday clash

Craig Bryson is an injury doubt for Derby ahead of their Championship clash with Sheffield Wednesday at the iPro Stadium.

The Scotland international, suspended last weekend, faces a second successive match absent after missing training on Thursday with a thigh problem.

With fellow central midfielder Will Hughes serving a ban on Saturday, Bryson had been expected to come back into contention for a starting place but he will need to be assessed.

Hughes, Bradley Johnson and Jacob Butterfield made up the Rams' midfield at Huddersfield. If Bryson is ruled out, Chris Baird or Jamie Hanson would come into the frame as George Thorne is still recovering from a broken leg.

Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Keiren Westwood is hoping to return to contention after missing last week's home win against QPR due to a back problem.

Westwood was forced out of the previous week's draw at Cardiff and his replacement in that match, Cameron Dawson, made his first league start for the Owls last Saturday.

Head coach Carlos Carvalhal, who has no new injury or suspension worries, could recall Liam Palmer, who signed a new two-year deal with the club this week.

Striker Steven Fletcher, winger Ross Wallace and defender Glenn Loovens are also pushing for recalls as the Owls bid to extend their unbeaten league run to four matches.
