McClaren faces selection poser

Derby head coach Steve McClaren has no new problems and plenty of options ahead of the visit of his former club QPR.

Jamie Ward, Johnny Russell, Simon Dawkins and Patrick Bamford are all available for selection, presenting McClaren with a selection dilemma as he prepares his team for Monday night's match against the Rams' Sky Bet Championship promotion rivals.

Loan signing George Thorne will be pushing for his first start for the club after completing his loan move from West Brom on the penultimate day of the January transfer window. The midfielder featured in the matchday squad against Birmingham at St Andrew's last weekend but did not get on the pitch.

Central defender Shaun Barker and midfielder Paul Coutts (both knee) remain sidelined as they continue their rehabilitation from long-term injury.

Matty Phillips has been added to QPR's growing injury list.

The winger suffered an ankle injury early on during last weekend's 3-3 draw with Burnley and could miss the rest of the season.

Phillips joins right-back Danny Simpson (back), top scorer Charlie Austin (shoulder) and midfielders Yossi Benayoun (groin) and Alejandro Faurlin (cruciate) on the sidelines.

Junior Hoilett is set to start in Phillips' place while Aaron Hughes is pushing for a debut in defence and Jermaine Jenas has resumed training following his recent lay-off.
