Rowett to ring the changes for Rams

Gary Rowett has promised changes to his Derby side after Saturday's disappointing defeat to Wolves.

Rowett felt his side lacked energy at Molineux and could consider the likes of Ikechi Anya, Craig Bryson and David Nugent from the start against Preston.

Midfielder Tom Huddlestone will be assessed after struggling with a groin niggle last time out and could drop out if it has not fully healed.

Record signing Matej Vydra missed out last time with a hamstring problem and may not be ready.

Ben Pearson will be missing for Preston due to suspension.

The tough-tackling midfielder was dismissed against Leeds at the weekend and will now serve a one-match ban.

Manager Alex Neil has also confirmed John Welsh (calf) is still not ready to return to action while back-up goalkeeper Declan Rudd has a thigh issue.

They join club captain Tom Clarke (Achilles) on the sidelines, though Josh Harrop (calf) was able to make his debut off the bench at Elland Road and could have a bigger role.
