Hendrick out for Rams

Jeff Hendrick looks likely to miss out for Derby when they host Brentford in the second round of the Capital One Cup.

An ankle knock saw Hendrick limp off after 64 minutes of the Rams' 3-0 league win at Yeovil on Saturday. The 21-year-old midfielder, who has started all five matches for Nigel Clough's team this season, has bruising around the ankle and will go for a scan within the next 24 hours.

Clough could take the opportunity to give some players a run out against the League One side at Pride Park.

Adam Smith, Ben Davies, Michael Jacobs and John Eustace all started in the previous round at Oldham and it remains the only game any of the quartet have started this season.

Brentford have been hit by a spate of injuries.

Everton loanee Conor McAleny was stretchered off against Walsall on Saturday after suffering what boss Uwe Rosler described as a "very nasty" leg injury.

McAleny joins fellow striker Will Grigg (hamstring), left-back Jake Bidwell (ankle), midfielder Jonathan Douglas (knee) and goalkeeper Richard Lee (shoulder) on the sidelines.

Rosler used fringe players like Jack Bonham, Ben Nugent, Stuart Dallas and Paul Hayes in the first-round win over League Two Dagenham and may have to do the same at Pride Park against the Championship Rams.
