Scott Carson a doubt for Derby

Goalkeeper Scott Carson remains a doubt for Derby ahead of the visit of Blackburn.

The Rams' number one missed the EFL Cup defeat to Liverpool due to a sickness bug but it is hoped he will recover in time to play on Saturday.

Question marks also remain over the fitness of defender Jason Shackell and forward Johnny Russell. Both players have missed the last two matches with calf complaints and will continue to be monitored. On-loan striker James Wilson (knee) will also be assessed after sitting out the Reds clash.

Ikechi Anya and Matej Vydra were cup-tied against Liverpool so they will come back into contention as Derby look for a first win in six Sky Bet Championship fixtures.

New Blackburn signing Wes Brown is set for his debut after signing a permanent deal with the club this week having recovered from a calf injury.

His arrival will come as a welcome boost for manager Owen Coyle, who could have up to five defenders unavailable.

Charlie Mulgrew (calf), Elliott Ward (ankle) and Adam Henley (hamstring) are definitely sidelined while Gordon Greer missed the 1-0 cup defeat to Leeds with a knock picked up last weekend, while Scott Wharton came off with a hamstring injury at Elland Road.

However, the cup-tied Derrick Williams and Tommie Hoban are set to return.
