Davies hoping for fitness boost

Derby forward Steven Davies says he is determined to stay clear of injury this season. In two seasons with the Rams, Davies has made just 20 starts with various injuries hampering his progress significantly. Davies resumed his own pre-season training, along with Dean Leacock and Kris Commons, in mid-June and says he is already reaping the benefits. Davies told Rams Player: "I know I needed to come in early ahead of pre-season, especially after last season. "I wanted to be on par with the rest of the lads, I didn't want to be playing catch-up at such an early stage. "I know Kris Commons and Dean Leacock feel the same as well, that is why we've been in for the last few weeks. I had a really good pre-season last time around and I'm looking to get another under my belt so I can hit the ground running and force my way into the team."
