He left a disappointing 2-1 defeat at Coventry to take a look at Notts County midfielder Ben Davies. The 29 year-old is seen as the way forward for the Rams midfield.A strange position for Clough to be looking at after his side could not muster a recognised all out striker for the Coventry defeat , despite having Luke Varney twiddling his thumbs.Varney, one of the only fit strikers at the club seems to have been left out of the squad to avoid injury whilst protracted negotiations to loan out the 28 year-old take place.It is widely thought QPR are likely to make a move for Varney on a season long loan before the transfer window closes next week. If those negotiations fail Charlton Athletic have also been liked with a loan deal for Varney.Ross Atkins starts an extended loan spell with Tamworth until January Meanwhile Rams keeper Ross Atkins has just completed an extension to his loan at Tamworth. The 20 year old Rams third choice keeper will remain with Tamworth as Clough sees the loan as valuable experience for the youngster and an important part of his development. Atkins will now stay at Tamworth until January....
