Stephen Pearson`s return has been hailed as a `massive boost` for Derby by boss Nigel Clough. The Scottish midfielder made his first appearance of the season as a second-half substitute during the 1-1 draw at Barnsley on Saturday. Pearson only resumed full training on Friday after four months out following knee surgery. The 27-year-old established himself as a virtual ever-present last season and Clough believes his return is a welcome one. "It is great to have Stephen back with us and it was wonderful to see him out on the pitch on Saturday," Clough told the club`s official website. "It was a real lift for everyone on Friday to have him back training with the first-team. It is a massive boost for us to have another body available, especially one of Stephen`s quality. He also gives us extra energy in that midfield area." Clough added: "Stephen will get a game in the reserves in midweek against Bradford with a view to starting against Crystal Palace on Saturday."
