Clough: Trio's fitness will be key
Derby boss Nigel Clough is relishing the return to fitness of Kris Commons, Steve Davies and Dean Leacock for his side's forthcoming npower Championship campaign.
The trio have never started a game together during two years at Pride Park and have been troubled by injuries for the majority of Clough's 18 months at the helm.
"If we are to do anything and be half successful, players like that have to be fit and in the team," the Rams manager told the Derby Telegraph.
"For the ability they have, it is difficult to be successful without them.
"If we had three players coming back who are fringe players, then you would say 'yes, they are not bad' but to get three players of that calibre in the team and fit is what could make a real difference.
"They are here at this club and them not being available enough has been frustrating for everybody."
