Clough steps up striker hunt

Derby boss Nigel Clough wants to sign two strikers ahead of the televised clash against Midlands rivals Leicester at the weekend. The Rams tried to sign City`s Martyn Waghorn and Conor Sammon from Kilmarnock before last week`s transfer deadline. Waghorn remained at the Walkers Stadium while Sammon opted to join Wigan. Clough is still keen to bolster his attacking options when the window for emergency loans opens on Tuesday. "We are desperately trying to get two in the emergency window. How quickly? As soon as we can. We'd certainly like one in before Leicester. If we can get two in, we'll do that," said Clough. "We were speaking to clubs last week and we`ll see what their injury situations are now the weekend has gone. We're looking around, seeing if there are some young strikers and older experienced ones. "We just want a bit of experience and that could just mean that they've played games and not necessarily be about their age, because experience comes with games. We're also still looking for some pace."
