Derby manager Nigel Clough has apologised to the club`s supporters following the humiliating FA Cup defeat to non-league Crawley. Clough thanked those who travelled to West Sussex on Monday night but also acknowledged the hurt and embarrassment caused by the 2-1 loss to all Rams fans. "Losing at Crawley was a bitter blow and we are feeling the hurt as much as anyone. But I acknowledge that it has embarrassed our supporters and for that we are very sorry," Clough told the club`s official website. "This apology isn`t just for the fantastic travelling support who made the journey to see us lose, but also the thousands of Derby supporters who care passionately about this great club. "Our focus now is on bouncing back against Watford on Saturday in the Championship. In terms of league form we have shown progression this season and last, and it is important not to lose perspective on that despite bitter disappointment. "Results like last night, and away to Nottingham Forest, live long in the memory and we don`t expect the supporters` hurt to disappear quickly. "However, we do believe we can still give them a productive second half to the season, with the team trying to play in a manner which is exciting and enjoyable to watch."
