The full fixture list for the Championship is set to be announced on Wednesday morning and Clough believes that when the matches are unveiled the excitement will start to grow.
"Fixtures day is always exciting for supporters but it is also good for the players and staff as it focussed everyone on the coming season," Clough told the club's official website.
"There is no such thing as a close season in football anymore. We are not playing matches, of course, but the work never stops be it transfers in and out or players taking part in rehabilitation making sure they are ready for the start of the new season.
"Moor Farm (Derby's training ground) has been a busy place in May and June but it will really come to life on July 1 when the players are back in."
