Clough keen to bolster forward line

Derby manager Nigel Clough has identified three or four attacking players as possible transfer targets this summer.

The Rams are set to complete the permanent signings of loan forwards Jamie Ward and Theo Robinson once the transfer window reopens next month, as well as goalkeeper Frank Fielding from Blackburn.

But Clough is keen to boost his attacking options with other additions and who he is able to sign could depend on whether he renews his interest in a deal for Spanish forward Alberto Bueno.

Bueno has been on a season-long loan from Real Valladolid. The 23-year-old made an impressive start to his Pride Park stay but has struggled in the second half of the season.

"We will keep an eye on Alberto's situation but much will depend on what business we do during the summer," Clough told the Derby Telegraph.

"That is no slight on Alberto, who was great when the side was going well, but we have identified three or four other attacking players and it will depend on if we can get any of those.

"We are talking to lots of players and lots of agents and until the final games are finished we cannot announce anything."
