Clough expects further transfers

Derby County manager Nigel Clough expects more players to follow Lee Croft in moving to Pride Park. Former Norwich winger Croft signed a three-year contract with the Rams last week, but that is not the end of the transfer activity according to Clough. "Ideally we'd like another two or three players in, and maybe three or four departures on top of that," he told BBC East Midlands Today. Derby were back in training yesterday, ahead of the new Championship season. "Going forward, we've always been very happy," Clough continued. "Lee (Croft) gives us options on the right hand side, and Gary Teale wants to concentrate on the left, so we just need cover now for those areas. "We want to play with some width, especially at home and get some crosses in the box." A balanced squad is the first priority on Clough's mind, and he's keen to ensure he keeps the numbers down to a sensible level. "We don't want (the squad) to be too big - we don't want to get up to 26 or 27 - something like a 22 man squad will be fine."
