Clough: Coppell a great role model

Clough's side host play-off contenders Reading at Pride Park on Tuesday night knowing that a win would guarantee their Championship survival. The Rams are five points ahead of third-bottom Norwich, who have just two games remaining. Clough briefly played under Coppell at Manchester City in 1996 and is full of praise for the Reading manager and what he has achieved at the Berkshire club. "The manner in which he conducts himself is an example to a lot of young managers and everybody in the game has huge respect for him," said Clough. "I played for him at Manchester City - very briefly - a month or something like that. The players at the time wanted him to stay longer because there were a lot of problems at the club and in that short time he stabilised things. "He has done it at Reading. He has been there a while and gone about his business in an unassuming manner. He got them in the Premier League, they are back down again but they are still playing football and still employing the same principles to get back up."
