Buxton to go under the knife

13 October 2010 12:00
Derby defender Jake Buxton will undergo minor back surgery in a bid to put the last seven months of injury problems behind him. The 25-year-old has not made a first-team appearance since March due to a persistent nerve problem. Buxton will have an operation on Wednesday and it is expected to be another four to six weeks before he can return to training. The former Mansfield and Burton defender is one of five centre-halves to have been sidelined by injury this season, along with Dean Leacock, Russell Anderson, Miles Addison and Mitch Hanson.
