Veteran striker Michael Boulding is on trial at Derby.

The 34-year-old, who was a prolific goalscorer in the lower leagues with Grimsby and Mansfield several years ago, played for the Rams' reserve-team on Wednesday. He featured for the full 90 minutes and scored in a 2-0 win over Walsall.

Boulding joined Barnsley from Bradford last summer but is now a free agent after leaving the south Yorkshire club. Derby boss Nigel Clough is desperate to sign two strikers during the emergency loan window.

The Rams tried to sign Leicester`s Martyn Waghorn and Conor Sammon from Kilmarnock in January. However, Waghorn remained at the Walkers Stadium and Sammon opted to join Wigan.
