Barker could make Millers trip

The centre-half, signed from Blackpool for £900,000 this summer, missed the Rams' opening-day Championship fixture against Peterborough on Saturday with a thigh injury. "He's trained and hopefully, if he suffers no reaction, he will be involved against one of his old clubs, which would be nice for him," said Derby manager Nigel Clough. Barker, a Rotherham player between August 2000 and August 2006, is likely to start on the bench at the Don Valley Stadium. However, fellow central defender Dean Leacock is not expected to travel despite also resuming training after a groin injury. Midfielder Paul Green will be rested after a bruised foot forced him off at half-time against Peterborough. His replacement at the weekend, Kris Commons, is away on international duty with Scotland. New loan signing Jake Livermore is also unavailable as he is suspended for three matches after receiving a red card while in action for Tottenham's reserve team towards the end of last season.
