Ayala swoop delayed

Derby`s deal to sign Liverpool defender Daniel Ayala has been put on hold. The 20-year-old Spaniard is still recovering from a hamstring injury and will continue his rehabilitation with his parent club. A deal had been agreed for Ayala to join on loan until the end of the season and the player was at Derby's Moor Farm training ground on Monday. However, he will not now complete his move before the transfer window shuts at 11pm, although boss Nigel Clough still hopes to bring him to the club on an emergency loan next month. "We still want Daniel to join us and we are pretty confident that will happen, albeit later in February," Clough told the club`s official website. "We have had him checked over and the advice we are getting is he won`t be ready to play for a number of weeks yet. "It makes sense for everybody involved that Daniel continues his rehabilitation at Liverpool, who have been tremendous to deal with throughout this whole process." Meanwhile, Derby forward Greg Mills has rejoined AFC Telford on loan for the remainder of the season.
