Trio doubtful for Danes

Denmark boss Morten Olsen has revealed that he has three injury doubts for Sunday's Euro 2004 quarter-final against the Czech Republic at Porto's Dragao stadium.

Ebbe Sand is the major problem although there are also minor concerns over Dennis Rommedahl and Martin Jorgensen.

"We still have injury problems," Olsen admitted.

"There are questions marks over Dennis Rommedahl, Martin Jorgensen and a bigger one over Ebbe Sand."

Olsen is confident his two wingers will recover in time but is less optimistic about Sand's chances.

"When you play a team like the Czech Republic he needs to be 100 per cent fit," Olsen added.

"They all have muscle problems which is not surprising in a competition where you play three matches in eight days, the first in Guimaraes in near tropical conditions."

The Danish coach is wary of Sunday's opponents who have come from behind to will all three of their group matches.

"We got four from six points against them in the 2002 World Cup qualifiers, where they had basically the same players as they have now - apart, of course, from Milan Baros.

"They are not the worst possible team to go behind against, as they will not just stay back and defend a lead. They will, of course, try to defend their lead, but they will still want to play football - that is their nature.

"The Czechs are playing wonderful technical and attacking football and their way of playing resembles our own in many ways.

"They pick footballers in the same way we do - namely players who can and will play football. And I think that this tournament has emphasised that the teams who dare to play football are the teams who get success."
