Olsen seeking Danish improvement

Denmark boss Morten Olsen has warned his players that they must improve if they are to have any hope of progressing to the semi-finals of Euro 2004.

A 2-2 draw against Sweden on Tuesday was enough to set up a quarter-final clash with the Czech Republic, but Olsen was far from happy with the quality of his side's display.

He said: "The Czechs are a very good team, surely one of the favourites. Of course, having said that we have to play a lot better than we did on Tuesday and we're sure we can do that.

"We're a bit disappointed about how we played. We can do much better and we have to do that against the Czechs.

"We showed that in the last 25 minutes when we created many chances and with those chances normally we should have won the game.

"We need to be self critical. I don't think we played the whole game (against Sweden) as well as we wanted but it was enough on the day.

"I can only say the team fought fantastically but we had the opportunity to play some good football and we didn't on the day."

The Danes have two major fitness concerns ahead of Sunday's game in Oporto, after Daniel and Niclas Jensen both limped out of the action against Sweden.

Midfielder Daniel suffered a recurrence of an Achilles problem but expects to be fit, while full-back Niclas needed hospital treatment for a badly gashed foot.

If Niclas Jensen misses out, PSV Eindhoven's Kasper Bogelund is expected to be handed a starting berth.
