Denmarks Eriksen set for late fitness test
Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Christian Eriksen will undergo a late fitness test to determine if he can play in Denmark's friendly against England on Wednesday, manager Morten Olsen revealed on Tuesday.
The 22-year-old former Ajax star is a doubt with a back muscle problem and Olsen has assured Tottenham that he will not be allowed to take to the field at Wembley Stadium unless he is fully fit.
"If Eriksen could play we will use him, but he would have to be 100 percent," Olsen told a press conference in London on Tuesday.
"When he is only 99 percent, he will not play. He's a young player who has never had such an injury before, so it's a difficult one to call.
"We have to wait and see. I think it's always a game against time. Probably he can play on Saturday for Tottenham (against Chelsea in the Premier League).
"I don't think he can play tomorrow (Wednesday). We'll wait and see, but I can only say to Tottenham that I will not risk him."
Eriksen echoed his manager's words and sought to reassure Spurs manager Tim Sherwood that he will not jeopardise his chances of playing a key role in the club's run-in.
"I know myself I won't play if it gets any worse," he said.
"He (Sherwood) will be good with that. I will have a fitness test at some point tomorrow. If it is not 100 percent, I am not playing."
