UEFA have revealed that they will investigate a Danish complaint that Italian midfielder Francesco Totti spat at Christian Poulsen during the goalless draw between the two sides on Monday.
Footage on the Danish TV station DR1 News showed the incident and UEFA confirmed in a statement: "We have received a complaint from the Danish FA and we are looking at the video evidence now and will decide whether to open a case for the disciplinary committee to consider."
Denmark's Thomas Gravesen told tabloid BT: "Totti was running around spitting at Christian Poulsen. That's just not on."
Meanwhile Chelsea's Jesper Gronkjaer is struggling to be fit for Friday's match against Bulgaria.
The winger rejoined the squad in Lisbon on Tuesday following the death of his mother last week.
"I know that at this moment I am not in the best condition and this is understandable," he said.
"The pain is very strong, but I decided to rejoin the team to overcome this difficult moment in my life.
"My team-mates have given me a lot of support and I want to give my contribution in order for Denmark to remain as long as possible in this competition.
"I have joined the team to give 100 per cent."
