Windass relishing Quakers role
Published: 30 Jun 2009 - 17:29:43
Todd earmarked Windass, 40, as a future assistant during their days at Bradford together and the pair kept in touch after they had gone their separate ways. Windass said: "I know Colin well from our time at Bradford. We had a good relationship as player and manager there and when he asked me to become his assistant I didn't hesitate, I was delighted. "I'm good friends with Colin's son, Andy, and I spoke to Colin about the chance of getting into management on several occasions when I was still playing. We've always had a good bond and we kept in touch and Colin always said to me he wanted me to work alongside him as his assistant. "It's very flattering. For him to approach me is really exciting. We first met to discuss the possibility about a month ago, but we couldn't say anything because of the uncertainty about Darlington. "But I understand the club will be coming out of administration next week and the lads will all be reporting back for pre-season training on Thursday."
