Verma aims to continue good start

Aman Verma has wasted little time in setting a favourable impression at Darlington, and the midfielder hopes his displays will be enough to impress Leicester City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson.[LNB] The 23-year-old is on loan to Quakers from the Championship club and last week scored the winner versus Tamworth in only the third game of his temporary stay.[LNB] His loan ends in January, though it could be extended, especially as manager Mark Cooper has been impressed with his performances so far.[LNB] "Aman used his strength to score last week, he's a strong boy," said Cooper.[LNB] "There's more to come from him because he's a good footballer and he'll be a useful acquisition."[LNB] A spate of postponements have restricted Verma's opportunities to shine while with Darlington, though he continues to spend part of the week with Leicester where Eriksson was appointed in October.[LNB] "Sven is in training everyday, he watches every session., but I've not spoken to him yet," said Verma.[LNB] "I train with Leicester at the start of the week, Mondays and Tuesdays, unless Darlington have got a midweek game, and then I train up here at the end of the week.[LNB] "At the moment, with there being new management and new owners, I think it's going to be quite hard to get involved with the first-team for a while.[LNB] "It's hard to tell whether I had more of a chance before the new manager came in. I played in a few friendlies during pre-season and I thought I played pretty well so I thought I might be on the fringes of the first-team[LNB] "I played one game, in the League Cup against Macclesfield, that was my debut, but apart from that I haven't really been involved.[LNB] Verma did not turn professional until the comparatively late age of 21, after signing for Leicester from non-League Redditch United.[LNB] He now wants to make up for lost time and he wants to continue the good start he has made at The Northern Echo Arena.[LNB] "21 is late to be starting and I'm 23 now but at least I've got the opportunity," he said.[LNB] "In the reserves at Leicester I've scored a few. The last one I got was a header and I've scored from outside the box.[LNB] "But if I get the opportunity I like getting into the penalty area to try and score.[LNB] "I've been playing more of a holding position rather than bombing forward, I've just been holding my position.[LNB] "Last week we played a very attacking formation so that gave me the licence to get forward.[LNB] "But before I joined Leicester I was more of an attacking midfielder. I scored a lot of goals for Redditch, but that was a completely different standard."[LNB]
