Todd to lead saved Quakers
20 May 2009 - 17:13:53
Colin Todd has been named as the new manager of Darlington despite the club still being in administration.
On the same day that former chairman George Houghton revealed that he is to put together a rescue package to save the League Two club, experienced coach Todd was unveiled as their new manager.
Houghton placed the club into administration in February and their future was in serious doubt after a string of deadlines passed without any new buyers coming forward.
However, after pledging to keep the club alive, Houghton has now unveiled former Middlesbrough, Bradford City, Bolton Wanderers and Derby County boss Todd in the hot-seat.
Todd will be assisted by current youth team managers Craig Liddle and Neil Maddison, with reports continuing to suggest that Hull City striker Dean Windass could join the club.
"Colin comes with a superb track record and aptitude for spotting talent," Houghton told the club's official website.
"He's a great asset to the club with experience and willingness to take on the challenge.
"We're all looking forward to rebuilding the side and the public confidence in the club."
