Staunton running out of excuses

The Quakers have now gone eight matches without a win as they tasted defeat on the road for the 14th time this season, with their battle against the drop seeming a hopeless one.[LNB]Staunton said: "I think the effort of Tuesday night's draw at Bury took its toll on the players in the first half but at least in the second half we made a much better fist of it. We had a couple of chances but weren't able to take any of them.[LNB]"You can't keep giving yourselves a mountain to climb and expect to get results. We started to compete in the second half and you don't get anything out of games unless you do that.[LNB]"The first goal was a shocker from a defensive point of view for us and the disappointing thing is that it is the experienced players that are making mistakes."[LNB]Staunton is intent on pursuing the rebuilding path for next season, which will almost certainly be in the Blue Square Premier. He added: "We have been building from January with the younger players but we want to finish the season positively and keep things going."[LNB][LNB]
