Singh: Foster stance is sensible

Under the terms of the player's deal, the Quakers' highest earner would be entitled to another year's deal on the same terms if he appeared in another two league games[LNB]But with Darlington currently adrift at the foot of League Two and seemingly destined for the Conference if manager Steve Staunton cannot engineer a major turn-around, that is a situation they simply cannot countenance.[LNB]Writing in his programme notes for Saturday's clash with Bradford, Singh said: "It's a very unfortunate predicament, but one which was unavoidable.[LNB]"Without going into too much detail about the actual contract, it's a well-known fact that Steve is by far the highest earner at the club and his current deal, which was negotiated by [former boss] Colin Todd during administration, would mean he would remain on the same terms next season, regardless of which division we are in, once he's played another two games for us.[LNB]"We do have to make sensible financial decisions in the interests of the football club, and we fully appreciate everything Steve has done for the club over the last couple of years. He's been a great captain and a good servant and I personally enjoy a good relationship with him, so naturally we are all hoping that we will be able to resolve this situation amicably over the coming weeks."[LNB][LNB]
