Singh ends Darlington interest

Singh has also hinted that former England international Colin Todd is on the verge of being appointed manager by the cash-strapped League Two club, with Hull striker Dean Windass mulling over an offer to become player-coach, reuniting him with Todd who he played for at Bradford. Media reports also claim that club will exit administration before the weekend under a new ownership structure, but Singh, who had been working alongside Houghton with a view to taking over at the Darlington Arena, insists he is not involved. "I have heard stories along the same lines," he said. "It's not me, it's not me involved. I think it (his takeover) is over. I think they have made plans. I didn't think it would work if I went back in with George Houghton. As far as the football side goes, that's it." Singh, who was appointed as the club's vice chairman by Houghton last year, is confident that his former superior is the man behind the reported takeover, adding: "I think it's common knowledge." With no-one from Darlington or the club's administrators able to confirm or deny the stories, Singh also believes Todd and Windass will take charge under the new regime, saying: "I was told a week to 10 days ago that they were in the pipeline. I think their names have been swung around."
