Darlington boss David Hodgson has moved to strengthen his squad with the capture of midfielder David Rowson.

The 29-year-old had spells with Aberdeen, Livingston, Stoke City and Partick Thistle before joining Northampton Town in 2004.

He was released after helping the Cobblers win promotion last term, and secured a one-year contract with Darlington by impressing during a pre-season trial.

Hodgson told the club's official website: "David has been very patient, playing during pre-season and staying with us to show commitment to join Darlington Football Club.

"He brings a lot of experience to the club and is a solid addition to the options I now have across the midfield.

"Not only has he played at SPL level, he has played league football in England for four years and has been part of two promotion-winning sides, with Stoke and Northampton, and he is a player I believe can help this team provide his third promotion win."
