Richardson: We are closing the gap

Published: 09 Feb 2010 - 12:59:20

Darlington assistant manager Kevin Richardson believes his side could soon have clubs above them looking over their shoulders. The Quakers face a huge task to avoid dropping out of the Football League, but two wins since the turn of the year have lifted Darlington to within six points of second-bottom Grimsby and 12 behind next club Cheltenham.Richardson said: "It's not rocket science, we need as many points as we can. We got three on Saturday after a good performance, but that's gone now, it's history. We're looking forward and we'll try and get three more points."Some of the teams probably looked at the table (on Sunday) and saw the gap is that little bit smaller. If we can now get something out of our next game we're giving ourselves a fighting chance."We need all the help we can get, we need to get as many points as possible and hopefully, by the end of the season, we'll have enough."I don't pay any attention to how other teams are doing. The most important thing is how Darlington performs, how many points we pick up, and let other people worry about us."
