Revenge not in the air for Quakers

Darlington tomorrow play Torquay for the first time since suffering a humiliating 5-0 defeat in December, but it cannot be described as a revenge mission as Quakers' team has changed so much.[LNB] That's the view of assistant manager Kevin Richardson who points out that only two of the players who started at Plainmoor were selected for Tuesday's loss to Port Vale.[LNB] You could talk about revenge if you had the same players. But the team that lost last time is totally different now, said Richardson, who has hinted at line-up changes tomorrow.[LNB] We don't like getting beat anyway, but if you're going to lose then there is certain manner you want to do it in and that game down there was poor. We haven't forgotten so we'll be doing our best to reverse the score on Saturday.[LNB] Darlington have scored first but failed to hold on to the lead in four of their last five matches at The Northern Echo Arena.[LNB] Manager Steve Stanton has kept changes to a minimum in recent weeks, and Richardson said: When we do go in front it appears to be a mental thing. The players have to deal with it.[LNB] They've got a responsibility and they are trying.[LNB] Now we're playing so many games you look at fatigue, is that a factor or is it a mental problem[LNB] That's what we'll be looking at more in the games to come because we've had a few games now where we've used more or less the same team, whereas in the past we were making three or four changes.[LNB] We maybe have to look at that.[LNB] However, defender Richie Byrne (hamstring) remains sidelined for at least another week while Mark Bower (ankle), Chris Lumsdon (back) and Noel Whelan (hamstring) are making progress.[LNB] Tomorrow's match has been designated as a Help for Heroes' game with members of the Royal Dragoon Guards, based at Cattrick Garrison army barracks, handed free tickets. Soldiers from the regiment will be selling wristbands for charity while admission to members of the armed forces is £5 and there are also reduced rates for family members.[LNB] Meanwhile, Darlington are to expand their youth department with the opening of two development centres.[LNB] Elite Advanced Development, who work as part of a charity organisation, have agreed an exclusive agreement to provide centres for Darlington, and they will open in Gateshead and Peterlee initially.[LNB] Trials take place tomorrow at Whickham School and Sports Centre, Burnthouse Lane, in Newcastle.[LNB] Under sevens to U11s is 10am-11.30am, with U12s to U15s 11.30am to 1.30pm. Details on 0845 003 8388.[LNB]
