Quakers snap up Abbott

Darlington have agreed a £100,000 deal for Swansea City's Pawel Abbott, with the striker set to a sign a two-year contract with the Quakers.

The 25-year-old former Huddersfield Town forward only joined the Swans in January, but netted just once in 19 appearances for the South Wales club.

However, Quakers boss Dave Penney is confident that Abbott will be a good addition to his squad.

He told the club's official website: "Pawel is a proven goalscorer at this level and higher.

"He's got a great habit of scoring goals and is a player who will excite the fans.

"It is another piece in the jigsaw, but I expect there to be one or two more new faces joining pre-season training before we kick-off against Wrexham on August 11."
