Quakers sign Horwood

Darlington's caretaker boss Neil Maddison has swooped to sign Sheffield United defender Evan Horwood on a one-month loan deal.
Maddison, who took over the job after David Hodgson was suspended and then subsequently sacked by the Quakers, witnessed the side crash to a 5-0 home defeat against Rochdale last Friday and has been aiming to strengthen the rearguard since.
The fall-out from that thrashing is defender Craig James was red carded and will be suspended for the next four games so a new stopper was desperately needed.
Therefore North-Easterner, Horwood, who has enjoyed previous loan spells at Stockport, York City and Chester, has joined as cover and is expected to make his debut in the left-back position at Hereford on Saturday.
