Quakers hail Hatch physio
20 Nov 2008 - 15:54:04
Darlington assistant manager Martin Gray has hailed the response of the club's physio to Liam Hatch's neck injury in the FA Cup clash with Droylsden.
Tuesday's first round replay was held up for 30 minutes amid fears that the on-loan striker may have suffered a broken neck.
Quakers physio Will Short tended to the stricken player on the pitch before accompanying him to hospital.
Scans subsequently revealed that Hatch had not broken his neck, but Gray was full of praise for the work of the physio.
"For such a young physio, I felt he dealt with the situation fantastically well," he told the Northern Echo.
"There's certain injuries that some physios might never come across and I would think Tuesday's would've been a new one to Will.
"The way he dealt with it, his professionalism reached a really high standard - that's the whole procedure, from treating Liam on the pitch to getting him to hospital."
