Clark Keltie has revealed he came close to quitting Darlington before deciding to sign a new contract with the Quakers.
Keltie, 23, has put pen to paper on a new one-year contract at the TFM Darlington Arena, despite interest from some unnamed higher division clubs.
"I'm delighted to have finally agreed to stay," he told the Northern Echo.
"I have thought long and hard about my future, and at one point I felt that I might have been ready for a new challenge after the ups and downs of last season.
"But I have had a good relationship with the chairman and directors. I'm excited by their ideas and plans for taking the club forward."
Meanwhile, the Quakers have revealed they will not be following up their interest in Adam Boyd, after holding talks with Luton Town's former Hartlepool United striker earlier in the week.
